Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I need to have prior horse experience or know how to ride?In a word, no. You will not be riding, and all our interactions with the horses take place on the ground. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to try something new. You will meet the horses in a way that feels right for you - over the fence, in the barn or in the paddocks. We’ll teach you how to interpret horse ‘language’ so you can tap into their wisdom. Together, you and your horse will decide how you want to deepen your relationship, perhaps through reflective grooming or one of several exercises that allow you to gain greater awareness of what is possible.

Why do horses make great teachers? You can’t hide what you’re thinking or feeling from a horse. They cause you to pause and lean into the moment. They are masters at sensing and managing emotions. Horses reflect what you may be suppressing or ignoring. Being in connection with a horse requires you to be honest with yourself. They encourage you to question and consider – Why am I feeling what I’m feeling? What message does that emotion have for me? Which stories am I ready to rewrite or leave behind? How can I move forward with more compassion for myself and others? More joy in my day?
-
What can I expect to gain from the experience?Every session is unique. You may have an ‘aha’ moment, a big breakthrough or leave simply feeling more content, at peace with yourself and your surroundings. The key to maximizing your time with us is an open mind. Set aside your expectations and trust. That’s when the magic happens.
